New party to contest 100 seats PDF Print E-mail

Udupi, April 25: Rashtriya Hindustan Sena president Pramod Mutalik has said his party will be contesting 100 seats in the Assembly elections. It has already fielded 56 candidates and is supporting an independent candidate, Nagesh Rao, in the Kaup Assembly constituency in the district.

Addressing presspersons here on Wednesday, Mr. Mutalik said that the final list of his party would be released by Sunday.

He said his party was opposed to the 1,015 MW coal-based thermal power project being set up by Udupi Power Corporation Ltd. (formerly Nagarjuna Power Corporation Ltd.).

“We will make this project our main issue in the district. Work on this project was speeded up only when the Karnataka Development Front Government came into power,” he said.

He said the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had double standards regarding thermal power projects.
