Puttige seer sends new proposal PDF Print E-mail

Udupi, Jan 12: Vishwesha Tirtha Swamiji of Pejawar Math said on Friday that he had received a draft proposal for the proposed constitution for the Ashta Maths from Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Puttige Math.

Addressing presspersons here, Vishwesha Tirtha said that in the proposal sent to him, the Puttige swamiji had proposed that any rule should apply to the present and future seers of the Ashta Maths.

He said the Puttige swamiji had also proposed that both the present and future swamijis of the Ashta Maths should not visit foreign countries and they (swamijis of the Ashta Maths) should stop using aeroplanes for traveling.

The Pejawar swamiji said, "The proposal to stop air travel is aimed at me. I am ready to stop travelling by planes to protect the sanctity of the sanctum sanctorum of the Sri Krishna Math/Temple and that of Krishna puja. This is also a sign that we (the swamijis of Ashta Maths) are moving towards the resolution of the impasse. I will place the Puttige swamiji’s proposal before the swamijis of the Ashta Maths and a decision would be taken on it."

To a question about the impact of the verdict of the court on Paryaya ascension issue [the case is in the court of the Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) in Udupi], the Pejawar swamiji said, "We did not want the issue to reach the courts. We are carrying on our duties in a normal manner."

Meeting

He said a devotees’ convention had been called in Udupi on Sunday. Nearly 20 swamijis following the Dwaita tradition ("Madhwa peethadipatis") were expected to attend the convention. The aim of the convention was to protect the tradition of worshipping Lord Krishna, Vishwesha Tirtha said.

Vidyasagara Tirtha Swamiji of the Paryaya Krishnapur Math, Vidyadheesha Tirtha Swamiji of the Palimar Math, Vidyavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of the Kaniyur Math and Vishwavallabha Tirtha Swamiji of the Sode Vadiraj Math were present.
