Mangalore, Dec 26: The process of taking computerised photographs and bio-metric thumb impressions of those holding temporary ration cards has begun in the rural area of Mangalore taluk. The process, which began on December 20, will continue till February, K. Raju Mogaveera, tahsildar, Mangalore Taluk, said in a release.
This task has been entrusted to Comet Technologies, a private firm. People are required to produce the computerised temporary ration cards issued to them, at the time of taking fresh photographs. They have to pay a fee of Rs. 45 for getting the permanent ration cards. If there are any errors in name, age and so on in the temporary ration card, they should be brought to the notice of the company personnel for rectification. If there are any omissions of names of family members in the temporary card, they can be added in the permanent cards by producing necessary documents. Those who are aged above 12 should get their photographs and bio-metric thumb impression recorded in the computer. The photographs are being taken at different places in the rural limits.
