Mangalore, Jan 13: Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy has selected Shimaje Parari (S N Shetty) from Mumbai, B N Rao Bolur (Bolur Narayan Rao) and Sannakka Banglagudde for the Academy awards for the year 2007 for their contributions to Tulu literature, drama-theatre and folk art, respectively.

Udupi, Jan 9: The advocate of Sugunendra Tirtha Swamiji of Puttige Math, A. Sripati Acharya, said on Tuesday that he had filed his objection to the injunction sought, by two persons C.H. Nagaraj Rao and Harish Bhat, on the Puttige swamiji worshipping Lord Krishna at the Sri Krishna Math, at the court of the Additional Civil Judge (Junior Division) on Tuesday.

Town Hall in Mangalore too ceased to be just a hall and elevated to become the source of livelihood and life for many artistes here in the district. But unfortunately, the hike in the tariff of the hall has left the theatre and other artists with the sense of uncertainty. The tariffs were hiked in 2000 and the latest hiked tariffs came into force on January 1, 2008. The artistes point at several disparities in the tariff and feel that the new tariff will only curtail the growth of art in the district.

Udupi, Jan 6: Secretary of the Sri Sugunendra Tirtha Bhakta Vrinda B. Gopalachar said on Saturday that the vrinda would file a defamation suit against C.H. Nagaraj Rao and Harish Bhat for making, what they termed as "false charges against Puttige Math seer".
